Just a day in the life...

Jon and I have both been crazy busy at work during the first couple of weeks of 2010. I've been getting everything in line for a new year in chiropractic (new insurance for patients, updates, new forms, fun, fun, fun! I do really LOVE it!) and Jon was having to go in to work at 3:30am while it was so cold to help all the buses get started. So this week we've been able to relax somewhat. We finally took all of our Christmas decorations down and got them put away in the attic, and the house is looking bare.
I was so excited that my only full day off had a forecast of 50 degrees!!!! So the girls and I went on a walk around the neighborhood, and Mackenzie was able to play outside.
(I am finally saying goodbye to our car seat-stroller combo. We used the same one for both girls, and Mackayla is finally starting to outgrow the car seat. As soon as her little feet got close to sticking out, we knew it was time. We will be installing her new (for her! I LOVE that Mackenzie wasn't rough on her baby gear, and that we can re-use it for Mackayla) car seat this weekend.)
We ate dinner in the living room (I know, I know) one night and watched Marley and Me. After Kenzie finished, she went upstairs to play (Thank God--Jon and I were both boo-hooing at the end, and I don't think she would have liked how sad it was) and I was holding Mackayla. She had gotten really still, and fallen asleep sitting up. Kenzie really enjoying her Snuggie :-)

Happy New Year!

Here is our sweet Mackayla, right before we stopped swaddling her. She still enjoys it, so we just wrap her up, leaving her arms out. Every morning, I get Mackayla ready first, then we go in and wake Kenzie. I always get the same reaction: Kenzie rolls over, reaches out for Mackayla, and then holds her until Mackayla is ready to get up. It's adorable, and I know it won't last long, but I'm enjoying it while I can!

:-)

On New Year's Eve we went out for dinner with our friends Joey and Jyn. Mackayla did her usual, and slept...
while Kenzie played Tic-Tac-Toe with Jyn.
After dinner I took the girls to Mom and Dad's, where they spent the night. Here are the last pics of 2009, our girls loving on each other as they have all year!

A Birthday, Hibachi, and a Good Friend

On my birthday, 12.28, we hung out with our good friend Heather. Mackenzie was delighted to see her, and loved the baby doll Heather got her,

and the spinner that she got Mackayla.

For dinner we all went to eat Hibachi. This was Mackayla's 2nd time going, and this time she was awake!!! She seemed to enjoy all the movement and noise.

I know it looks like Mackenzie isn't having fun, but she was just a little nervous--our chef had tossed a piece of broccoli on her plate, and she wasn't sure what else he was going to do!

My mom and dad gave us this mini-cake for my birthday. Kenzie is so camera-shy, don't you agree?

Christmas Day

I realized as I was posting all these pictures, that I don't have ONE picture from Christmas Day with the Cronon's!!!! So here is one from that night--we celebrated my birthday early. Mackenzie was helping me blow out the trick candles Jon put on the cake.

Christmas Morning

We had a great time celebrating Christmas morning. Mackenzie with her doll house
Mackayla, receiving lots of help opening her gifts
Mackenzie helped pass out the stockings

Mackayla DEFINITELY knew what her pacifiers were!

Mackayla seemed a little overwhelmed by it all

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was spent with the Cronon's. Before Jon's family came over, while Mackenzie was taking a nap, Mackayla and I had a photo shoot in front of the tree...
...she does love to pose...
..."Mom, where'd ya go?"...

...that turned into chaos as soon as I stood up! Mackayla got herself under the tree in record time. She waited all season to make her move. :-)

Nanny, Papa, Mackenzie and Mackayla (Mackenzie is definitely my kid--that's usually how my eyes look in pictures!) Kenzie was so cute--as she would open gifts, she would tackle the person it was from and hug them and say thank you! Kenzie's face as her largest present was brought in... ...the enormous brown bear she had asked for!
We bought Kenzie a DS this year. Trying to have everything ready, we took it out of the box to charge it.I thought I had put all the gift stuff away (b/c of course I was wrapping 2 hours before gift time), and let Mackenzie come downstairs after her nap. A while later, she saw the empty DS box and asked if it was her pink DS. I felt horrible when I told her it was her Nanny's, and she cried for what seemed like forever. I reminded her that Christmas wasn't over, and she didn't know what she would be getting. So Jon and I decided we couldn't just let her unwrap it and be done, we needed to really surprise her with it. So I wrapped it in one wrapping paper, then wrapped that again in a different wrapping paper, then put it inside another box (the box for a gift my parents had already given her), then wrapped that box.
I love her face when she finally got to the last wrapping, and saw her pink DS!Of course, the Phineas and Ferb game to play on her DS.

Coleman Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with my parents and my sister's family on the Monday before Christmas this year, because of everyone's crazy work schedules. Because of how rushed things were, of course I didn't get very many pictures. And this is the first year I've forgotten to take a picture of all the kids. :-(

Mackayla opening her very first Christmas present!

Opening Mackayla's stroller...I love the look on her face! Playing with her new computer

Lunch with the work crew

Every year we have a Christmas lunch with Dr. Gregg and Dr. Pizza. This year we went to Maggiano's. I had not been before, but it was awesome. Here are some of my favorite people (I know I'm lucky to work with them)!

Christmas card pics...

We did our annual "in front of the tree" pictures for our Christmas cards again this year. The first 3 pics are the ones that made the cut...

We also took one of Jon and the girls...
and me and the girls. (of course, Kenzie's eyes are closed--she IS my child!)
This was a really cute pic I took...you can see the happiness on Kenzie's face!

Meeting Santa

This year Mackenzie was only a little shy when seeing Santa. This was the best picture we could get, because she wouldn't smile!!!! Mackayla, however, wasn't the least bit afraid.

Mackayla was very interested in the beard.
Santa talking to Mackenzie about her Christmas list.
